It is everything you'd expect from a Mexican restaurant in Minnesota. Good, not great. Not really authentic, very Tex-Mex. My food was good, and I'd go there again, but I prefer Hacienda in terms of flavor and authenticity. Portions humongous. Staff attentive. Price reasonable.

Everything about this restaurant screams Mexican restaurant, and (worst of all), kind of Mexican stereotype. Lots of Coronoa stuff, lots of bright lights and sombrero type decor. In all very kitschy and over the top. The drink menu is large and very Mexican themed -- Tecate, Dos Equis, Negro Modelo, drinks that come in fish bowls and lots of options that end in "-arita." That said, the drinks seemed pretty solid, and I did appreciate that my Tecate came with a lime without me asking. Food-wise the menu is almost overwhelming it is so big. There seems to be a smattering of everything Mexican you might want -- salad, guacamole, enchiladas, tacos, etc. You can order pretty much anything you can think of in any combination you can think of. I ordered the dos enchiladas platter, which came with two enchiladas, beans, rice and the general sour cream, lettuce, tomato smattering. The ground beef enchilada was actually my favorite. Flavorful and nicely textured. The pulled beef was kind of dry and not as flavorful. All came smothered in this white sauce that actually in an odd way reminded me of a bechamel. It was fairly tasty, but not exactly Mexican in my book. I did enjoy that they brought free chips and salsa to the table right away (though my friend did comment that they seemed to be tortilla chips out of a bag rather than homemade, and I think she is correct.) One very positive note: Our waiter, Matt W., per my receipt, was excellent. Accommodating in every which way. We really appreciated his attentiveness and thoughtfulness and willingness to go the extra mile to make sure we had everything we possibly needed.

If you can get past the dirty dungeonous look and the flies, this place has decent food. I don't come here often but I'm not against it! It's a good go to on your birthday since your meal is free!

Delicious chili con queso!!! I've moved to the cities after college, but always pick up a to-go container of it if I'm passing through. Their burritos and fajitas are very good as well!

Palets change as you grow older and move away and try new foods. I was recently home for a visit and had to come back to my old stomping pre party margaritas and food favorite! It is not authentic mexican food it is americanized mexican food which is fine with me for this instance. Same with the olive garden is not authentic italian food! Part of what I am paying for when I come here is the ambiance the fun and the pretty good food. Portions are large more to the midwest sizes I am no longer used to and flavor is good. This is always on my list when I come home and one of the places I look forward to visiting!

This was by far the worst "Mexican" food I've ever had. My husband and I came in and everything looked good. My husband ordered the "Cancun" and I ordered the grilled chicken breast. When the chips and salsa came, the chips were obviously from a bag and the "salsa" tasted like it was just canned tomato sauce with a few spices thrown in. We asked for pico de gallo and it wasn't any better. It was just chopped red onion, green and red peppers without any garlic, salt & pepper. There was NO seasoning in it whatsoever. We added Tapatillo sauce to spice it up. We looked at each other and said "I hope the food is better than this". That should have been our clue to leave. The Cancun were supposed to be seafood enchiladas. They were filled with fake crabmeat and frozen baby shrimp and covered in green sauce and rubbery cheese. My grilled chicken tasted like it was just a frozen patty marinated in paprika and topped with frozen peppers that were heated up before service and topped with the same rubbery cheese. The rice & beans tasted like they came out of a can. Nothing tasted fresh. My husband couldn't eat more than a few bites and I only ate 1/2 of my chicken before I gave up. The one good thing was my Negro Modelo beer. But you can't really screw up beer that comes in a bottle. All in all, if you are looking for real Mexican food, you will not find it here. If you are looking for tasteless, bland, rubbery food in a Mexican setting, then this is your place! The only reason I am giving this one star is because Yelp doesn't give you the option for none. And the beer was cold.

Not all that authentic, but delicious! Many options for absolutely anyone. They have vegetarian options as well. Wednesday they half half price pitchers of Margaritas. That's 4.99 for a PITCHER of any flavor rocks or blended!

The drinks are good, but thats about it. The menu is small and not authentic. The whole "green gravy" with the chimichangas is a little weird... Service was exceptionally attentive, but definitely dont come here for just the food.

Don't come here expecting anything remotely resembling authentic Mexican cuisine, come here instead for Minnesota Mexican Fillage. All 100 menu options are basically the same three ingredients (ground beef, tortilla, cheese) assembled in a different order and smothered with sauce. The food is priced reasonably but barely edible. I give them props for the new outdoor seating, good service, free chips and salsa, and free birthday meals but I just can't bring myself to dine here unless I am dragged by my friends and family who for some reason unbeknownst to me love this place.

Located in the heart of downtown St Cloud this place is surrounded by fun and excitement. The atmosphere inside is clean and fun. The servers were attentive and did a surprisingly good job considering the large party that we had. The margarita was better than i expected. Not amazing but 'a-ok'. The food was a bit of a letdown. I'm somewhat to blame though as I ordered a sea-food chimichanga in MN in the middle of winter. The sauce on the chimi was an odd combo of gravy and cheese. The beans were dry. Overall not good. They are holding onto their 3rd star only because we were there in a large party and they did a pretty good job with the group and the drinks were good. I've been here before and previously the food wasn't great as well so it wasn't a fluke.

I love to visit here when I'm in town. My favorites are the taco plate dinner and the vegetable fajita. i haven't had the latter for awhile, but I haven't been able to find a veggie fajita any better anywhere else. Service was quick and friendly.

This has to be one of the most Unauthentic Mexican places I've ever had a meal at. First sign of that, there were no Mexicans working there. The Second and verifying factor was when the food arrived at the table. Now I can enjoy a lot of foods that aren't authentic but this was just plan blah! It could have at least been good! O-well, service was honestly pretty bad too. One plus was the atmosphere is really pretty cool. We won't be back, I'd recommend Guadalajara for really good Mexican if you're ever in St. Cloud.

Mexican Village is one of the best places in St Cloud to get Mexican cuisine. It may not be authentic, but it tastes awesome! My husband and I love the Dip Trios appetizer. You are able to select three of the dip offerings to enjoy. It is a great way to afford more than one dip and have something other than salsa to use with the chips. All the menu items I have had are wonderful. My only complaint is that at times, the table feel too close together and it feels like you are sitting on top of each other.

This is my first trip to St. Cloud and to this restaurant. My friends and I had the Pollo Fundido. The food is not very authentic, but it was decent. The service was fast and friendly. Overall, not bad.

Great staff service tonight. Celebrated wife's birthday. Food was excellent and staff and management was the tops. We'll come again.

I brought my mother-in-law here for her birthday lunch because she gets the seafood enchiladas once-a-year. For her free birthday meal. The food is not what I would call authentic, but it's decent. It's many steps above Taco Bell, that's for sure. Our server was friendly and attentive.

My first time visiting Mexican Village is also my last. The food was not at all authentic nor was it particularly good. Bland would be a good term. I've never had to douse salsa with hot sauce before but I did here. For my entree I ordered the steak fajita burrito and it was a hot mess of very little rice, some black beans, and a generous portion of fatty, gristly meat. The service was almost adequate. The ambience was tacky and loud. And apparently this is THE place to go for birthdays because our waiter spent more time singing for people with the rest of the wait staff than he did being a waiter. Not his fault, just the way it is. But the most unnerving was the persistent strobe light effects with the ceiling fans against the lights. I actually got woozy just sitting there. In short, overpriced, subpar quality, and disappointing.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
